September 2007 Breakfast Forum

On Tuesday, September 11, 2007, Herb Romerstein spoke at The Lincoln Institute Breakfast Forum at the University Club in Washington, D.C.  As an expert on terrorism and national security, Herb was a very appropriate speaker for the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

During his distinguished career, he served as an investigator for the House Un-American Activities Committee (1965-1971), Minority Chief Investigator for the House Internal Security Committee (1971-1975) and as a professional staff member for the House Intelligence Committee (1978-1983).  In 1983, Herb became head of the Office to Counter Soviet Disinformation and Active Measures at the U.S. Information Agency, from which he retired in 1989.

He is the author of three books – The Venona Secrets, The KGB Against the Main Enemy, and Heroic Victims: Stalin’s Foreign Legion in the Spanish Civil War – as well as numerous articles.

Herb spoke about the Communist influence in the black radical movement in the 1960s, and gave his perspective on our current national security situation.
