On Tuesday,
September 11, 2007,
Herb Romerstein
spoke at The
Lincoln Institute Breakfast
Forum
at the University Club in
Washington, D.C. As an expert on
terrorism and national security, Herb was a very appropriate
speaker for the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist
attacks.
During his distinguished career, he served as an
investigator for the House Un-American Activities Committee
(1965-1971), Minority Chief Investigator for the House
Internal Security Committee (1971-1975) and as a
professional staff member for the House Intelligence
Committee (1978-1983). In 1983, Herb became head of
the Office to Counter Soviet Disinformation and Active
Measures at the U.S. Information Agency, from which he
retired in 1989.
He is the author of three books – The Venona Secrets,
The KGB Against the Main Enemy, and Heroic
Victims: Stalin’s Foreign Legion in the Spanish Civil War
– as well as numerous articles.
Herb spoke about the Communist influence in the black
radical movement in the 1960s, and gave his
perspective on our current national security situation.
