On Tuesday,
March 20, 2007, Jim Martin
spoke at The
Lincoln Institute Breakfast
Forum
at the University Club in
Washington, D.C.
Jim
Martin is one of the founders of the conservative movement.
While he came to Washington, D.C., in 1962 as a journalist,
he quickly migrated to the political/policy side of
Washington. From 1964 through 1969, he served as chief of
staff to Congressman, then Senator, the late Edward J.
Gurney.
He also helped form and direct several public policy groups,
including the National Conservative Political Action
Committee and the Public Service Research Council.
Sixteen years ago, he founded the 60 Plus Association, which
has been called the conservative alternative to the AARP.
He’s most well-known for coining the term “death tax” to
refer to the estate tax.
