Vince A.
Finnegan, long-time photographer for the Lincoln Institute.
It is with sadness that we learned of the death of Vince A.
Finnegan, early in October. Since the beginning of the
Lincoln Institute, Vince has been there to shoot those
special moments setting forth much of the history of our
effort. He died of a stroke in Florida at the age of 88.
Vince had a long and distinguished career as a news and
commercial photographer…

Turmoil at
Gallaudet University. Can a school for the deaf embrace
genuine diversity? In October hundreds of students took
over buildings, shut down classes, blocked entrances and
slept in tents at the nations or the worlds only liberal
arts university devoted to the deaf, Gallaudet University.
The protest is over the schools designated new president,
Provost Jane Fernandes, whom they accuse of a number of
shortcomings as provost, her previous position, that range
from not promoting racial diversity to not providing
security. The real issue is, however, what some people at
the university call the deaf culture…

Finally,
the millions killed by communist regimes will be
memorialized in Washington. The groundbreaking ceremony for
a memorial honoring the millions of people killed by
communist regimes was held in September near the U.S.
Capitol. Elected officials and representatives of the
Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, founded in 1994,
took shovels in hand to officially begin the project…
